And so the story goes

And so it goes,
As everyone knows,
At least those who have picked up a pen,
That " Once upon a time" has changed,
That the status quo has rearranged,
And that the end is permanently the end,
No longer can I look back at the pages and feel or see myself there,
It is now possible for a writer to alienate themself from the characters who said they care,
But when did I put down my words and suddenly find myself speaking?
Was it when I was cut by your papery skin and found it was ink I was leaking?
Since when did I stop being stranger than fiction?
And found myself being a written contradiction?
The writer who has become the written,
The teenage girl who has become smitten,
With circumstances that will only serve to complicate,
How can I begin to even dictate?
I hate this character with a burning distaste,
If I were to create her I'd kill her without haste,
But unfortunately this is not my role,
And now pegged on paper is my despicable soul,
I am naked for all the world to see,
Characters I was in need of, and a character I am to be,
And so the story goes,
Though no one really knows,
What becomes of the writer and her solitary glory,
When she becomes a character in someone else's story.
